Pediatric Psychologist
Inova Peterson Life with Cancer/Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital
Shari Langer, PsyD is a pediatric psychologist with Inova Peterson Life with Cancer's Pediatric Program, part of the Inova Schar Cancer Institute. She works primarily at Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital and provides evidence-based intervention for children, adolescents and young adults with cancer and their famillies from diagnosis through end of life and bereavement. Her clinical and scholarly interests include coping and adjustment to illness, grief and loss, nonpharmacological pain management, and supporting staff wellbeing. Throughout her career, Dr. Langer has represented psychology on several palliative care, integrative medicine, and bereavement hospital-based committees and treatment teams. She is a Schwartz Center Rounds co-facilitator and leads interdisciplinary debriefings to foster staff resilience. She is dedicated to advancing pediatric psychology palliative care training and promoting collaboration across interdisciplinary team members. Dr. Langer earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Long Island University - CW Post Campus. She completed her predoctoral residency in child clinical/pediatric psychology at Franciscan Children's in Boston, MA, and a postdoctoral fellowship in psycho-oncology at CHOC Children's in Orange, CA. She currently serves as Member-at-Large Education and Training for the Society of Pediatric Psychology's Palliative Care and End-of-Life Special Interest Group.
