Gregg Robbins-Welty, MD, MS, HEC-C is an assistant professor of medicine and psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, psychiatry, and hospice & palliative medicine, and is a certified healthcare ethics consultant by the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities. He completed combined training and chief residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry, as well as fellowship in clinical ethics at Duke University. Dr. Robbins-Welty obtained his medical doctorate and a master’s in clinical research at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also completed his clinical fellowship in hospice & palliative medicine. At Emory University, Dr. Robbins-Welty splits his time as a clinician-researcher, clinically serving patients at Grady hospital, rounding as a palliative medicine consultant, as well as an attending physician on the medicine-psychiatry unit, and researching the interface of medical ethics, mental health and palliative medicine on which he has written and published extensively. He is an awardee of numerous awards including fellowships from the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry, the American College of Psychiatrists, the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and American Psychiatric Association. In his spare time, he performs and records bluegrass music, with his 2019 album ‘Gregg Welty – Community’ having been named a top bluegrass album of the year.
