Hospice Physician
Gilchrist Hospice Care
Dr. Carrie Hempel-Sanderoff graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. As an Osteopathic Physician, she has embraced a holistic approach to patient care, providing close attention to the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. Throughout her career, she received specialized training and Board Certification in multiple specialties, including Internal Medicine, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine, as well as other Integrative modalities. Working in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic solidified and focused her passion on the holistic needs of terminally ill patients and their families, and she has now devoted her career to Hospice and Palliative Medicine. By integrating palliative ICU interventions with home hospice resources, Dr. Hempel hopes to help develop strategies that enable critically ill patients to achieve their goal of receiving end-of-life care in their homes. She currently practices with a large hospice organization in Baltimore, MD, serving multiple hospitals in Maryland and Washington, DC, that have high complexity care needs for patients and families at the end of life.
