Joanna Chen is an assistant professor in the Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her Doctorate in Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees at Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and was part of the Center of Excellence in Primary Care track at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA. She completed her fellowship in Palliative Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Chen practices as a palliative care physician in both inpatient and outpatient settings – serving on palliative care consult services and has a panel of patients in the Ruttenberg Supportive Oncology clinic at Mount Sinai Hospital. She is also Medical Director of the Mount Sinai Palliative Care at Home Program. In addition to clinical care, her interests are in program development and quality improvement work addressing transitions of care and care access.
