Heather is a Physician Assistant at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, in the Division of Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care. Heather earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Philadelphia University in 2013. She started her career as a PA working in adult critical care medicine, where she developed her love for palliative care. She transitioned to Pediatric Palliative Care in 2018 and has never looked back. She is trained in communication and helps to facilitate communication courses. She lectures at PA schools on Pediatric Palliative Care, communication, and delivering serious news. Heather is currently pursuing her Doctor of Medical Science degree at the University of Pittsburgh with an expected graduation date of December 2026. As a former paramedic, her clinical interests lie at the intersection of hospice and palliative care and emergency medical services.
In her spare time, Heather is the president of the Pittsburgh-based non-profit, Steel City Myelinators, whose mission is to support and empower individuals and families living with multiple sclerosis. She is an MS Ambassador through the National MS Society. She lives with her two dogs and often fosters dogs with medical conditions until they are healthy enough to be adopted.
