Erica C. Kaye, MD, MPH is Director of the Quality of Life and Palliative Care Research Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She is a physician-scientist triple boarded in pediatrics, pediatric hematology-oncology, and hospice and palliative medicine, and her academic work has been funded by the National Cancer Institute and National Palliative Care Research Center. Dr. Kaye’s research platform centers on improving quality of life for children with serious illness and their families, with an emphasis on partnering with patients and families to co-design and test clinical interventions to improve communication about prognosis. She has received numerous national awards and recognition for her scholarship, including the AAHPM Emerging Leader in Hospice and Palliative Medicine Award in 2021 and the AAHPM Early Career Investigator Award in 2023. Dr. Kaye currently serves as Chair of the AAHPM Research & Quality Committee, where she leads efforts to develop and grow national programming to support serious illness researchers.
