Dr. Jamyl Walker is an Adult Geriatric and Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner. She received her undergraduate degree in Nursing at North Carolina A&T State University and completed her master's in nursing, in Adult and Geriatric Primary Care at The George Washington University. She then went on to complete her Doctorate in Nursing with a focus in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Texas and completed the MGH/Harvard Interdisciplinary Palliative Care Fellowship in 2023.
She has been active in the Society for Post Acute and Long-Term Care (PALTC) as a 2016 Futures Scholarship recipient and later as co-chair of two subcommittees (clinical issues in long term care and as a founding member of the NP/PA Advisory Board). She served as a panelist moderator and speaker for the annual conference from 2019 to 2022 and co-authored a research study with PALTC members on the impact of micro-transitions in longterm care. She was also involved in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA), focusing on advocacy and policy for Nurse Practitioner practice and long-term care. She is a current member of the Hospice and Palliative Nurse Association (HPNA).
Dr. Walker joined the inpatient palliative care team at Massachusetts General Hospital after Fellowship in 2023 as part of the new MGH Supportive Care Unit (SCU) and in the emergency department as a part of the newly established EDPall Care team. She joined the MGH Continuum Project as a Champion Leader and instructor for serious illness conversations and symptom management education sessions, and is also certified Vital Talk instructor. She is a member of the Education Committee for the Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care and continues involvement with volunteer opportunities in her local community.
