Dr. Patrick White, MD, PhD, FACP, FAAHPM, HMDC, is the Stokes Family Endowed Chair in Palliative and Supportive Care and Chief of the Division of Palliative Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer of BJC Home Care and Hospice. He provides clinical oversight and oversees education for over 650 physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, nurses, and supporting staff. He completed a PhD in comparative effectiveness research at the University of Pittsburgh and his work examines ways to optimize symptom management in patients with advanced cancer and enhance support for caregivers while improving resource utilization. He was appointed by the state to lead Missouri’s Palliative Care and Quality of Life Interdisciplinary Council and was selected by the federal government’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid as a technical expert to help redesign national quality standards at end-of-life and has presented Grand Rounds at CMS. He was awarded the Josefina Magno Award by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
