Gary Buckholz, MD, HMDC, FAAHPM

Dr. Gary Buckholz has advanced Palliative Medicine in the GME space over the last 24 years. He has served as a Fellowship Director for a large program for 18 years. During that time, he served on the committee to make recommendations to ACGME for Palliative Medicine’s initial program requirements. He then served on the Family Medicine Residency Review Committee and chaired the subcommittee to oversee the first major update to the requirements. He also served on the committee to develop Palliative Medicine’s EPA’s, Curricular Milestones, and the ACGME reporting milestones. He is now faculty at UCSD’s Center for Compassionate Communication within the Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion teaching compassion in healthcare through the arts and humanities lens.
