Clinical Assistant Professor

Sinthana Ramsey is currently palliative care faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics in Pittsburgh, PA. She holds the position of subspecialty education coordinator for palliative care to the internal medicine residency, as well as the ambulatory medical director for palliative care at the Hillman Cancer Center. Her clinical time is spent inpatient and outpatient, primarily caring for patients with advanced malignancies.
She is a 2009 graduate from the University of Florida with a BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition – Nutritional Sciences. She received her DO medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine – Bradenton in 2015. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2018. After residency, she spent two years as a hospitalist. She then completed her fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine in 2021 at The Ohio State University. She completed her master’s in medical education in December of 2025.
Her curricular interests include furthering bidirectional learning between palliative care and other specialties, especially internal medicine and oncology, and to improve the quality of palliative care by creating continuing medical education curricula for practicing clinicians. Dr. Ramsey enjoys teaching the application of palliative care among all specialties and guiding newer trainees in the role of primary palliative care.
