Mindy Dickerman, MD, FAAP, FAAHPM has practiced as a pediatric critical care physician and a pediatric palliative care physician since she completed her fellowship training at Children’s National Medical Center in 2009. She is currently the Chief in the Division of Pediatric Palliative Medicine and an attending physician in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) at Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH) in Delaware. She previously served as the Director of Critical Care Education and the Associate Program Director for the PCCM fellowship. She is curently serving as the Clinical Lead for Schwartz Rounds and just completed time serving as the Co-Chair for the Ethics and Patient Rights Committee at NCH. Locally, she has developed and implemented curriculum and standardized processes to incorporate palliative care in the pediatric intensive care unit, specifically surrounding communicating with families and end of life care. She is a Senior Vital Talk Faculty Member and an Interprofessional Spiritual Education Curriculum (ISPEC) facilitator. In addition to teaching regionally and nationally, she currently leads both these programs locally at NCH and has trained over 300 participants. Nationally, she is the current Chair of the Society for Critical Care Medicine’s (SCCM) Pediatric Palliative Care sub-committee. In addition, she is currently serving as a panel member for both SCCM developing Pediatric and Neonatal End of Life Guidelines and a national group standardizing Palliative Care Competencies for Pediatric CCM fellows.
