Scott Schmidt is an Emergency Physician and Hospice and Palliative Medicine Physician with Kaiser Permanente Northern California. He serves as physician lead for Advance Care Planning and Primary Palliative Care at his local medical center in San Rafael, California ,as well as with the Kaiser Northern California Supportive Care Services reigonal team. He was physician co-lead in the Kaiser collaboration with Vitaltalk to develop Vital Conversations, a serious illness communication training for Kaiser physicians. As regional Primary Palliative Care physician lead, he helps to support the Primary Palliative Care catalysts In driving culture change to improve serious illness care across specialties, disciplines, and settings. He resides in West Sonoma County with his wife and three sons and enjoys spending time in nature as often as possible.
