Briana Ketterer received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. She then went on to Internal Medicine residency at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR where she also served as a Chief Resident. Her desire to provide compassionate care for those with serious illness and to facilitate the education of medical trainees led her to fellowship training in Hospice & Palliative Medicine and Master of Science in Medical Education at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Ketterer then rejoined OHSU as faculty in 2020 as a clinician educator specializing in the care for individuals with serious illness. Her goal is to work collaboratively to improve the lives of patients and families with serious illness. She also has a particular interest in medical education and training the next generation of clinicians to provide compassionate care to patients and their families. She serves as core faculty and an Assistant Program Director for the Hospice & Palliative Medicine fellowhship program at OHSU. And an appointment with the OHSU School of Medicine where she is a member of the Entrustment Group. She enjoys teaching communication and primary palliative care skills. Her work includes serving as a Communication Coach within the OHSU Center for Ethics in Healthcare's TalkOregon program and nationally as Senior Faculty for VitalTalk. Regionally, she collaborates with the University of Washington's Palliative Care Training Center's graduate certificate program to educate practicing interdisciplinary healthcare professionals in palliative care. Nationally, she works with the AAHPM Assessments Workgroup to advance fellowship assessments and faculty development for our community of palliative care educators.
