Mgbechi Ugonna Erondu, MD MFA is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Pediatric Palliative Medicine in the Department of Anesthesia, Perioperative and Pain Medicine and in the Division of Quality of Life and Pediatric Palliative Care at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Her academic interests include the intersection between fiction writing and the medical humanities, perioperative palliative care, global palliative care and palliative care in sickle cell disease. She is a graduate of Princeton University where she earned a certificate in Creative Writing, alumnus of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and winner of the Plughaupt Prize for fiction. Her work can be found in McSweeney’s and The Examined Life journal.
