Gynecologic Oncology Fellow

Ana Kouri, MD is a gynecologic oncology fellow at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She earned her both Doctor of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on optimizing surgical and multidisciplinary care for patients with gynecologic malignancies, with particular interest in ovarian and cervical cancer, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), palliative care integration, and surgical education. Her scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications on fertility-sparing management in gynecologic cancers, systemic therapies for uterine sarcomas, and outcomes related to HIPEC in advanced ovarian cancer. She is actively involved in clinical research evaluating palliative care referral patterns, disparities, and outcomes in gynecologic oncology and the feasibility of minimally invasive approaches to second-look procedures with HIPEC.
In addition, she is engaged in educational research, including the development and validation of simulation-based training for complex oncologic procedures. Her career interests center on advancing equitable, high-quality oncologic care through evidence-based surgical innovation, improved survivorship and palliative care integration, and enhanced training paradigms for gynecologic oncology trainees.
