Laura A. Schoenherr, MD, is a palliative care physician and Associate Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she provides inpatient specialty palliative care and serves as Associate Chief of Inpatient Services in the Division of Palliative Medicine, supporting clinical operations and program development. Her scholarly and quality improvement work focuses on expanding access to palliative care for seriously ill hospitalized patients through data-driven, EMR-embedded approaches—leveraging clinical decision support and proactive identification strategies to better align care with patient goals and reduce unmet symptom and psychosocial needs. She is passionate about improving serious illness care at scale through interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, and systems innovation.
