Nimisha Bajaj, MD/PhD is an attending physician on the pediatric palliative care team at Children's National Hospital and an assistant professor of pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed categorical pediatrics residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital and fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Akron Children's Hospital. She also serves as the associate program director of the hospice and palliative medicine fellowship program.
Dr. Bajaj's research interests include palliative care education, integration and delivery of palliative care, especially in the outpatient setting, and utilization of medical humanities and storytelling to support psychosocial needs of patients, families, trainees, and healthcare workers. She completed the integrated research pathway through the American Board of Pediatrics during residency and was inducted into Courage to Teach. She has developed various narrative medicine curricula and published work on major stressors and promoters of well-being for pediatric residents as well as a longitudinal narrative medicine curriculum with long-term benefits to participants.
