Alaa Albashayreh, PhD, MSHI, RN

Dr. Alaa Albashayreh is an Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. His program of research leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to unlock hidden clinical insights from patients' health records, particularly unstructured clinical notes, to develop clinical decision support tools and enable timely decision-making for patients, clinicians, and caregivers. His work focuses on identifying patients who would benefit from palliative and supportive care earlier in their illness trajectory, with the ultimate goal of advancing person-centered, goal-concordant care for people with serious illness and their family members.
