Dr. Hunt is a PhD-trained nurse-researcher working at the interesection of geriatrics, palliative care, policy, and health equity. She holds dual-appointments as Associate Professor at the UCSF Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She is also a Senior Atlantic Fellow at the UCSF Global Brain Health Institute. The goal of her research program is to build the evidence base to drive policies and care model delivery to ensure that all older adults with serious illness receive the best possible care at end of life. Currently, she is funded by a National Institute on Aging K76 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging to examine the impact of federal policies on hospice outcomes for people with dementia. Her broader research program includes investigations of pain and symptoms, clinical and healthcare use trajectories, workforce issues, and health inequities in older adults with serious illness.
