Dr. Mariana Passos is a Pediatric Palliative Care Fellow at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. She is dedicated to supporting children with serious illnesses and their families through compassionate, family-centered care. Her clinical interests include complex symptom management, communication strategies, and ethical decision-making in pediatric medicine.
Originally from Brazil, Dr. Passos earned her medical degree and completed her pediatric residency training in São Paulo, where she developed a strong foundation in caring for children with complex medical needs. In 2025, she began subspecialty training in pediatric palliative care, driven by her commitment to improving quality of life for patients and families facing life-limiting conditions.
Dr. Passos is passionate about advancing the field through education, advocacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She strives to promote equitable and culturally sensitive care, ensuring that families from diverse backgrounds receive the support they need during the most challenging moments of their lives.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Passos values mentorship and professional development, aiming to empower healthcare teams to deliver holistic and compassionate care. Her long-term goal is to contribute to the growth of pediatric palliative care globally, fostering systems that prioritize dignity, empathy, and family-centered approaches.
