Dr. Victor Navarro is a Chief Clinical Officer for the Jefferson Health System, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, and Professor of Medicine at Jefferson’s Sidney Kimmel Medical College.
Dr. Navarro earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine and completed medical residency followed by chief residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. Thereafter, he obtained fellowship training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Hepatobiliary Endoscopy at Yale University after which he joined the faculty of the Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut. In 2002, Dr. Navarro assumed a full-time position as Chief of Hepatology and Medical Director for Liver Transplantation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he rose to the rank of Professor of Medicine, Pharmacology, and Experimental Therapeutics at the Jefferson Medical College, now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Dr. Navarro is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH/NIDDK) to study liver injury resulting from herbal and dietary supplements, and by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study novel models for delivery of palliative care to patients with advanced stage liver disease.
