Layla Katharine Santana is a PhD student in Aging Studies at the University of South Florida. She is an occupational therapist and gerontologist with prior clinical experience in home care in Brazil and a background in teaching and training in English language education. Her research focuses on aging, cognition,technology, social participation, and interventions that support quality of life for older adults, including work on dementia related care in assisted living and social reading interventions. She is also pursuing graduate training in artificial intelligence and machine learning to support ethical, data driven AgeTech research.
