Kimberly S. Johnson, MD, MHS is the Brenda E. Armstrong MD Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics and Duke Palliative Care, and a Senior Fellow in the Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development at Duke University Medical Center. She is nationally recognized for her research focused on understanding and eliminating disparities in palliative care for seriously ill older adults. Dr. Johnson has led large national and multi-site studies to improve hospice and palliative care delivery. She currently serves as Chief Health Disparities Research Officer for the Duke Clinical and Translational Research Institute and is a Multiple Principal Investigator on the Duke Clinical and Translational Sciences Award and the NIH-funded ASCENT Consortium to advance the science of palliative care across the lifespan. A committed mentor, she leads and co-leads multiple research education and career development programs, including the CTSA K12 program and the Research Education Core of the Duke Pepper Center, and has received institutional and national recognition for excellence in mentoring.
