Dr. Elise Tarbi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing at the University of Vermont and a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with advanced certification and clinical experience in Hospice and Palliative care. At the University of Vermont, she is Associate Director of the Vermont Conversation Lab and Deputy Program Leader for the Population Sciences and Cancer Outcomes Program at the University of Vermont Cancer Center. She received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and completed a postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Supportive Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her research seeks to understand and improve serious illness communication, so patients and families feel seen and heard. Insights from her research could ultimately move us closer to a health care system that routinely measures and prioritizes high-quality communication. Elise also works as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
