Julie Bruno, MSW LCSW, retired, served as the Chief Learning Officer for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine through 2025. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the Academy’s education programs and products while advancing innovations to meet the growing and diverse needs of the field of hospice and palliative care. These innovations have included development of a Hospice Medical Director certification, working with Boards of Medicine to provide relevant activities for continuing board certification, and the development of a new Hospice and Palliative Care Research. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Julie worked for the Academy for 17 years and in hospice and palliative care for over 30 years
