April Zehm, MD, is an Associate Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine. After obtaining her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completing her internal medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics (Madison, WI), she completed her fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, MA). She is board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine and is an active member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, recently being named as an Emerging Leader of the Academy. Clinically, she sees patients with serious illness as part of the inpatient palliative care consult service at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. In her non-clinical time, she works on curriculum development and teaches in a variety of forums for learners across the career continuum--from student to practicing clinician. She currently serves as an Early Clinical Learning course director and the communication thread director for the MCWFusion curriculum at the Medical College.
