Laura completed her nursing undergraduate education at Baylor University with a minor in Spanish language and her graduate degree at University of Texas at Austin. Her nursing background includes experience in the pediatric Intensive Care Unit, pediatric Intermediate Care Unit, pediatric home healthcare, and pediatric urgent care. As a nurse practitioner, Laura spent two years in general pediatrics and pediatric urgent care before transitioning to Pediatric Palliative Care in 2019 at Dell Children’s Medical Center.
Laura’s primary clinical and research interests include expanded education, utilization, and standardization of pediatric palliative care principles and management. She believes pediatric palliative care is a unique form of medicine providing opportunities for families and medical personnel to advocate for necessary medical, legislative, and societal changes within the way the healthcare system cares for children with life threatening illnesses. Laura has three children with her husband and is a lifelong lover of travel, music, and chocolate.
