Palliative Care Physician

Priya Raja is a palliative care physician and site director at New York Presbyterian- Lower Manhattan Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center. She completed her fellowship training at Mount Sinai Ichan School of Medicine as an inagural Hospice and Palliative Medicine-LEAP fellow, an innovative program designed to support leadership development and foster a broader understanding of health systems. During this fellowship, she completed a Master in Public Health at Columbia University and worked with the Policy and Health Care Transformation team at the Center to Advance Palliative Care. Priya has a background in public policy and human rights, and outside of her academic training, she has worked as a health care designer, medical journalist for ABC News, and as a case manager at a federally qualified health center. Her clinical and research interests in palliative care span narrative medicine, storytelling, serious illness communication, criticial disability studies, and emotional resilience.
