Shalini "Tinni" Maitra, MD, is a pediatric palliative care physician. Dr. Maitra grew up outside of Philadelphia and completed her undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She then went to medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia and completed her residency in general pediatrics at A. I. Dupont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware. She worked for a couple of years as a hospitalist at CHOP before going back for fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at CHOP. After fellowship, she remained at CHOP as full-time faculty in pediatric palliative care. She is particularly interested in providing excellent, equitable palliative care to children and families facing serious illness, and in enhancing access to palliative care through PPC@Home, our community based palliative care program, as well as through education of trainees on the importance of communication in serious illness. Dr. Maitra holds an appointment as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine.
