Amy Case, MD, FAAHPM, is the Chief Wellness Officer, Professor of Oncology, Lee Foundation Endowed Chair of the Department of Supportive and Palliative Care which oversees 8 divisions (Palliative Care, Psychology, Psychiatry, Spiritual Care, Geriatrics and Bioethics, Functional Medicine and Employee Resiliency at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Professor of Medicine at The University of Buffalo (UB) Jacobs School of Medicine and founder and Program Director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at UB Jacobs School of Medicine. Dr. Case completed a residency in internal medicine at UB 2004 and went on to complete a fellowship in Palliative and Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York in 2005. Her scholarly focus has been psilocybin for cancer pain, ketamine for healthcare worker compassion fatigue, medical cannabis for symptom management, non-medical opioid use, buprenorphine for pain, palliation of inoperable malignant bowel obstruction, health care worker resiliency and prevention of burnout as and palliative medicine education. She has obtained grants, extensively published and presents nationally and internationally. She has chaired national committees and lobbied capitol hill for a Palliative Education Bill for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). She serves as the Associate Editor for Education for The Journal of Pain and Symptom Management. She serves as the clinical director for the Center for Translational Research for Cannabis in Cancer (CTRCC) at Roswell Park, co-I of the Psychedelic Science Initiative, has started an esketamine clinic for refractory depression at Roswell Park as well as embarking on clinical trials for psilocybin for cancer pain and mood.
