Rima Itani Al-Nimr, MS, RD, LD is the Director of Clinical Education at the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC).
As Director of Clinical Education, Ms. Al-Nimr is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of CAPC's large portfolio of clinical education materials, including online courses, workshops and tools that have helped train more than 160,000 interprofessional clinicians. A specialist in adult learning strategies with extensive experience in medical education, Ms. Al-Nimr comes to CAPC from The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH, where she created and directed the Nutrition in Medical Education curriculum. Prior to joining Dartmouth, she taught at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH, helping pioneer the remote education platform.
As a licensed and registered dietitian, she has cared for a vast array of patients and research participants with serious illness in the areas of oncology, intensive care, transplant surgery, geriatrics and maternal-fetal medicine. She was co-investigator on the National Institute of Health and National Institute on Aging K23 grant on obesity in rural older adults with the Dartmouth Centers for Health and Aging, as well as a member of the Evidence Analysis Library National Taskforce on Malnutrition in Pregnancy.
Ms. Al-Nimr obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon and her Master of Science in Nutrition from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. Her work has garnered several awards, including the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Department of Nutrition Outstanding Alumni Award, the Geisel School of Medicine Dartmouth Distinguished Course Director Preclinical Teaching Award, and the Marcom Award for CAPC's Pain Management - Relieving Suffering and Reducing Risk unit.
