Kirsten is an attending physician in the Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine at MGH. She attended Harvard Medical School and completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After participating in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Michigan, she held positions in emergency medicine at Yale University, Northwestern University and, ultimately, Copenhagen University in Denmark. Upon return to the US in 2019, she completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and VA Boston. Since joining the division at MGH, Kirsten has become Medical Director of the Care Transitions Pathway which includes both an ED-embedded palliative care team and a Supportive Care Unit (10-bed palliative care unit).
