Dr. Alonso was born and raised in La Habana, Cuba, where she graduated with honors from the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana. Early in her career, she served in the Cuban medical mission in Venezuela. Dr. Alonso completed her residency in Family Medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center as Chief Resident. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Alonso completed a fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Miami, where she was recognized as Fellow of the Year. Dr. Alonso finished a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, focusing on improving the quality of life for patients facing serious illnesses and providing compassionate end-of-life care with excellence and empathy.
