Dr. Sanchez Artiles obtained his medical degree and graduated with honors from the Medical University of Havana in Cuba. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and was the recipient of the Gold Humanism Honor Society Award and the 2019 Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. He completed Fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He was named Fellow of the Year. Dr. Sanchez Artiles has over 10 years of experience in Medicine, with special interest in Cancer Pain and symptom management, End of Life Care, Bioethics and Health Disparities. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Board Certified Hospice Medical Director (HMDC). He began working with Catholic Palliative Care Services in July of 2021 and since then has been a Full Time Palliative Medicine Physician at HCA FL Mercy Hospital. He is also the Program Director for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program at HCA FL Aventura Hospital. He received the "Faculty of the Year Award" in 2021 from HCA FL Aventura Hospital and the "Academic Excellence Physician Award" from Catholic Hospice in 2023. He stepped into his role as Associate Medical Director of Catholic Hospice in Miami Dade in March of 2023. Dr. Sanchez Artiles resides in Miami and enjoys spending time with family and friends, his two dogs and traveling.
