Robert M. Arnold, MD is the Katherine Gaisman Chair of Medical Ethics, Professor and Vice-Chair for Professional Development in the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). Dr. Arnold is clinically active in palliative care. He has published on end-of-life care, hospice and palliative care, doctor-patient communication, and ethics education. He, along with Tony Back and James Tulsky, co-founded Vital Talk, the premier communication training organization for clinicians caring for patients with serious illness. His current research interests focus on using technology to develop educational interventions to improve communication and better understanding how ethical precepts are operationalized in clinical practice.
