Usha Asirvatham is a Nursing Education Specialist and a Healthcare Simulation Educator at the multidisciplinary simulation center in Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Over the past 30 years of her involvement in education in both academic and clinical settings, she has developed and implemented several curricula and courses for nursing as well as interprofessional learners.
In her current role as the educator at the Simulation center, she has been leading the assessment, planning, development and implementation of thousands of multi-disciplinary simulation experiences including multiple inter-professional healthcare simulations. She is the course director and teaching faculty for Simulation Instructor development courses at the Mayo Clinic and has developed and facilitated workshops on advanced debriefing techniques as well as various other topics in simulation-based education at regional, national, and international conferences. She is a Senior Fellow at the Academy of Educational Excellence at the Mayo Clinic recognized for excellence in teaching. She is actively involved in mentoring Simulation Fellows and in simulation-based research projects.
