Amy Scheu, MSH, CHPCA, joined Advocate at Home, the home health division of Advocate Health Care, in 2007. With the 2018 merger of Advocate Health Care, Illinois, and Aurora Health Care, Wisconsin she served as vice president of hospice and palliative care for the Advocate Aurora Health Continuing Health Division. In 2023 a merger between Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health resulted in the creation of Advocate Health, which provides care to patients in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin. Amy is now associate vice president, hospice and palliative care for Advocate Health’s Enterprise Continuing Health vision. In this role, she leads implementation and operations of hospice programs across Advocate Health’s Midwest region that serve more than 7,000 patients annually. She also now leads Continuing Health’s enterprise-wide palliative care.
In 2010, Amy was asked to lead Advocate Health Care’s efforts to further assure care across the continuum by designing and implementing a systemwide palliative care. Through her efforts, Advocate has launched successful home- and SNF-based programs; established outpatient clinics serving patients throughout the service area; and expanded inpatient palliative care services at hospitals. Amy has also been instrumental in initiating physician palliative medicine education efforts through Advocate Physician Partners, Advocate Health Care’s PHO, and has worked with Advocate Medical Group to secure funding and implement a palliative care program serving Medicare Advantage patients on Chicago’s south side.
Amy has been certified as a hospice and palliative care administrator by the National Hospice and Palliative credentialing center. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University and a Master’s degree in health services administration from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee. She also has a certificate from Harvard School of Public Health in Healthcare Project Management.
Amy was named Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator of the year in 2016.
