Dr. Sarah Byrne-Martelli has been board certified as a Palliative Care and Hospice chaplain since 2003. She is currently a Research Fellow in Supportive Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and an Assistant Professor of Spiritual Care at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary. She holds a Doctor of Ministry from St. Vladimir's and a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School. She is a 2022 Cambia Sojourns Scholar Leader studying spiritual care integration in inpatient palliative care teams. She chairs the Palliative Care and Hospice Advanced Certification program with the Association of Professional Chaplains and has served on the APC Board of Directors and the Board Certification Commission.
