Professor of Medicine
Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center
I am an oncologist specializing in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies and those undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT). My goal is to improve the quality of life and care for patients with hematologic malignancies and their families. My research interests include investigating patient-reported outcomes, developing interventions to enhance patient-centered decision-making, and designing supportive and palliative care interventions to improve the care of patients with hematologic conditions and their caregivers. I am also interested in adapting successful palliative and supportive care interventions to a digital health platform and exploring models of health care delivery to improve patients’ quality of life and care. I am the Director of Digital Health and the Associate Director of the Cancer Outcomes Research and Education Program (CORE) at Massachusetts General Hospital. I also serve as the Program Director for Outcomes Research at the MGH Center for Innovation and Digital Health (CIDH). I have conducted a number of research projects studying quality of life, mood, illness and prognostic understanding, and symptom trajectory in patients with hematologic malignancies and their caregivers, designing video educational tools to improve end-of-life care delivery for patients with serious illness, and developing and testing palliative and supportive care interventions tailored to the needs of patients with hematologic conditions, cancer survivors, and their caregivers.
