Palliative Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

Josh is a dedicated palliative care clinical pharmacy specialist currently serving on the MedStar Harbor team. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, where he gained a solid foundation in pharmaceutical sciences. Building upon his educational background, Josh completed a PGY1 residency with Johns Hopkins Bayview, followed by a PGY2 residency and a fellowship in Pain Management and Palliative Care at the University of Maryland and MedStar Health. Josh furthered his knowledge by earning a Master of Science in Palliative Care from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and is board-certified in geriatric pharmacotherapy. He is currently a clinical assistant professor at both the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and Georgetown School of Medicine. Josh's current clinical practice involves managing patients with serious illness, substance use disorder, and complex pain. His clinical practice includes precepting pharmacy learners, including students and residents, and co-precepting medical students, internal medicine residents, psychiatry residents, & palliative care fellows. In addition to his clinical practice, Josh is a member of opioid stewardship, substance use disorder, and pain committees within MedStar Health, and promotes leadership initiatives in the Society of Pain & Palliative Care Pharmacists.
