Dr. Griffin has a background in public health, with an emphasis in social and behavioral sciences and disparities in healthcare. She is a health services researcher and has been studying the impact of behavior on patient and family caregiver health outcomes in clinical settings for over 25 years. Her work has been funded by NIH, Veterans Administration Health Services Research and Development (VA HSR&D), Department of Defense, and private research foundations. She have been the PI or co-PI on 10 federally-funded grants and Co-Investigator on 6 federally-funded and 2 peer-reviewed foundation grants. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, her research includes developing, testing, and evaluating intervention strategies to modify or change behaviors to reduce risks face by patients and family caregivers. Her work has focused on primary, secondary, and tertiary forms of prevention and treatment, including prevention efforts for cancer patients and their caregivers, and disparities in treatment efforts and outcomes.
