Debra Dobbs, PhD, Professor and Director, School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida has federally funded research conducting clinical trials related to palliative care education in assisted living for nursing staff who provide dementia care. As the Director of the USF Center for Hospice, Palliative Care and End-of-Life Studies, she has research partnerships with hospice organizations in Florida. Dr. Dobbs is also involved in disaster preparedness research and music and mindfulness studies in assisted living and other community-based settings for persons living with dementia and their caregivers. She was in the first cohort of the Dementia Palliative Care Clinical Trials Scholars program funded by the National Institute on Aging. Dr. Dobbs is also the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Applied Gerontology.
