Clinical Professor
Northwell Health
I am a physician leader with frontline clinical expertise and national experience spanning critical care, hospice and palliative medicine, and value-based care. Triple board-certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine, I have led high-performing teams and built scalable care models for people with serious illness across academic health systems and national organizations.
At Optum, I founded and served as Chief Medical Officer for Supportive Care, a national home-based palliative care program serving high-risk, high-need populations. I also held senior clinical leadership roles with Aspire, Landmark, and Optum Home & Community, contributing to the design and expansion of integrated home-based and virtual care models within value-based frameworks.
Previously, at Northwell Health, I served as ICU Chief and founded the Department of Palliative Medicine, including its ACGME-accredited fellowship program. I also led regional organ donation initiatives across more than 100 hospitals as Assistant Medical Director for LiveOnNY. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I remained clinically active, providing ICU care in New York City during the height of the crisis.
I am currently a Professor of Medicine and a national thought leader in hospice and palliative medicine. My work focuses on advancing high-quality, patient-centered care through innovative delivery models, physician education, and system-level transformation. I also advise health systems, payers, and early-stage companies on scaling palliative and serious-illness care while maintaining clinical integrity and alignment with value-based care goals.
