Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner
CHRISTINE HALLMAN
Christine M. Hallman, DNP, APRN, ACHPN, A-GNP-C earned her BS in Gerontology from Bowling Green State University in 2006; MSN from Vanderbilt University in 2013 and her DNP from Vanderbilt University in 2019. She is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and is an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN). Prior to obtaining her MSN and DNP, Dr. Hallman worked in the Cancer Institute at the Washington Hospital Center (WHC) where she was instrumental in helping to develop the palliative care program by serving as a liaison between WHC and the consulting palliative care physician group. Her role not only included program development but also required providing palliative care education to the institution as well as development of policies, procedures and best practices. She then served in a non-clinical capacity as a member of the palliative care team at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where her focus was on quality improvement and patient advocacy. Dr. Hallman’s experience as a palliative care nurse practitioner has spanned the care spectrum to include providing care in the home, in the acute and ambulatory care settings as well as in the telehealth space. Dr. Hallman serves as a clinical preceptor for MSN and DNP students as well as faculty to APP hospice and palliative medicine fellows. Her academic areas of interest are palliative care, goals of care, heart failure, social determinates of health (SDoH), health equity and health policy. She is actively involved in research involving SDoH and the impact on community deprescribing practices as well as the longitudinal impact of SDoH on health outcomes in patients on continuous intravenous inotropic support. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (AAHFN) and Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).
