Stephanie Gilbertson-White PhD, APRN, FAAN is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing, where she also directs the PhD Program. Additionally, she is a faculty member for the Palliative Medicine and Hospice Fellowship program at the University of Iowa and the Supportive Oncology Clinical Research Program Leader at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (HCCC) at the University of Iowa. Dr. Gilbertson- White was in the inaugural cohort of the Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators. Her work focuses on managing physical and emotional symptoms associated with advanced cancer. She is interested in both 1) identifying patients most likely to develop distressing symptoms; and 2) developing person-centered interventions for patients to better self-manage their cancer symptoms in order to decrease symptom interference with life. She is especially interested in using eHealth interventions to help patients living in rural areas. Most recently, Dr. Gilbertson-White’s work has focused on developing testing symptom management intervention called OASIS for people with cancer and in using data mining approaches with EHR data to develop symptom development prediction models.
