Dr. Kimberlee Grier is a doctorally prepared nurse leader and postdoctoral researcher whose work focuses on improving care delivery and quality of life for children with serious illness and their families. With more than 15 years of experience across clinical, community-based, and global health settings, she has led and developed pediatric and family-centered programs that strengthen access to pediatric hospice, palliative, and supportive care services.
Dr. Grier has extensive clinical and programmatic experience in pediatric hospice and palliative care, where she has worked closely with interdisciplinary teams to support children with complex medical conditions and their caregivers across hospital, outpatient, and home settings. Her work emphasizes symptom management, caregiver support, communication, and care coordination to ensure that care aligns with family goals and improves quality of life throughout serious illness.
Her research centers on implementation and delivery science approaches to improve pediatric palliative and supportive care, caregiver engagement, and system coordination. She is currently leading collaborative work in Tanzania to integrate routine quality-of-life measurement into pediatric palliative care services, supporting local clinicians in embedding patient-reported outcomes into everyday care workflows to guide clinical decision-making and program improvement.
Dr. Grier’s broader scholarship also examines child and family vulnerability, including healthcare access and mental health service use among foster youth, and seeks to translate research findings into practical solutions that improve systems of care. She has extensive experience leading interdisciplinary teams and working with clinicians, policymakers, and community partners to design sustainable, culturally responsive care models.
She is deeply committed to mentorship, workforce development, and advocacy for children and families navigating complex medical and social systems, advancing equitable, compassionate, and evidence-informed care both in the United States and globally.
