FNP-C, Inpatient Palliative Care
St Joseph Health Center
Colleen B. Zogby, PhD, FNP-C, ACHPN, is an inpatient, hospital-based palliative care nurse practitioner at St. Joseph’s Health Center in Syracuse, New York, a member of Trinity Health. She recently earned her PhD in Palliative Care from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where her doctoral work examined burnout through stress appraisals, coping, and autonomy among inpatient, hospital-based palliative care nurse practitioners.
As a clinician-scholar, Dr. Zogby’s work bridges bedside practice and research, with a particular focus on the nurse practitioner role in high-intensity hospital settings. Her research highlights the complex interplay between professional role identity, team dynamics, organizational structures, and well-being in palliative care practice. She has a strong interest in improving how burnout is conceptualized and measured among palliative care clinicians, particularly nurse practitioners, and in developing organizational and role-based interventions to support workforce sustainability.
Clinically, Dr. Zogby practices on an interdisciplinary inpatient palliative care consult service, where she is deeply committed to patient- and family-centered care, complex symptom management, and goal-of-care communication. She is an active member of the palliative care community and is passionate about advancing the visibility, value, and sustainability of the palliative care workforce through scholarship, mentorship, and advocacy.
