The HEARD (Hospice & End-of-life care for Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias) Study aims to: (1) Identify experiences of care and elements of ideal and desired high-quality ADRD end-of-life care, from the perspective of bereaved caregivers of people with ADRD from populations that experience worse end-of-life care and outcomes, using a survey and two interviews; (2) Document hospice organizational practices and policies that influence the provision of hospice and end-of-life care for people impacted by ADRD and professional perspectives on opportunities to improve care, through interviews with hospice professionals and organizational case studies; (3) Develop a prioritized set of recommended services, clinical practices, and policies for improving hospice and end-of-life care for ADRD using focus groups and a modified Delphi process with bereaved caregivers, policy makers, and experts.
