Assitant Professor
University of Alabama at Birmingham
Dr. Macy Stockdill is an Assistant Professor in the Acute, Chronic, & Continuing Care Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. She received her PhD in Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2021 and went on to complete a three-year iCURE (intramural Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences) postdoctoral fellowship in the Neuro-Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Stockdill’s program of research focuses on reducing symptom burden and improving the quality of life of individuals living with a primary central nervous system tumor and their family caregivers through the development of targeted, effective, and culturally responsive symptom co-management interventions accessible to those living in the Deep South. In alignment with this goal, Dr. Stockdill’s research also focuses on the need to better understand how the influences of healthcare inequities and social determinants of health affect both patient and family caregiver reported outcomes (e.g. patient symptoms, mood, self-reported cognition, quality of life, caregiver burden).
