Joanne Chiu, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory and Director of the Fetal Cardiology Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, she obtained her BA and MD from Brown University. She then completed training at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center for pediatrics, New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center for categorical pediatric cardiology fellowship, and Children’s National Medical Center for an advanced imaging fellowship. In 2019, she was recruited to join the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children to direct the Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory. Her primary research interests are improving the communication and experience in fetal counseling and how provider attitudes and patient beliefs may affect counseling content and delivery. She directs a multi-centered team across multiple specialties in investigating variations in fetal counseling practice across the country.
